How to set up Salary calculation?


You can configure workers to be paid either Hourly or Salary. There are various options for how to pay Salaried workers. You can simply pay their Base Pay for the pay period, and then monitor their work hours for undertime and absences. Other options include paying Overtime and Differential time (e.g., night, weekends, holidays); and/or deducting Undertime.

Salary Settings

To set up Salary pay, first create a Pay Class using Salary pay mode:


When the Pay Mode is set to Salary, a new section called "Salary Settings" will appear. There you can configure numerous options. If you hover over the various Help icons on that screen, they will show detailed explanations of each setting.

If you pay Overtime, any hours worked on non-work days or beyond the work hour threshold on a work day, will be counted as Overtime. If you have more specific Overtime requirements, such as paying Overtime outside certain hours of the day, you can also configure the Overtime Settings in the section after Salary Settings. If you have certain compliance requirements, you can also use shift scheduling to restrict when workers are allowed to Clock IN and OUT of work. If you pay Differential, then you can set up Pay Code Rules to pay at different rates based on a calendar.

Worker Settings

In order to pay a worker Salary, you'll need to assign that work to the Salary Pay Class you just created. You can assign a worker to this Pay Class in the Extra Information section for that worker:


You'll also want to configure the worker's Salary Base Pay in the Compensation section:


If the Pay Interval for the Salary doesn't match the Pay Class Pay Period, then it will automatically be normalized when calculating pay. For example, if you set a Weekly salary, but the Pay Period is Monthly, then the salary will be adjusted to Monthly by multiplying by 52, and then dividing by 12.

You can use the Pay Rate Effective date in order to manage worker pay changes over time. The rate effective at the beginning of the pay period is what will be used for the entire pay period.

If you pay Overtime, Differential and/or deduct Undertime based using the "Hourly rate strategy" of "Hourly pay rate" in the first screenshot above, then you can also add Hourly Pay Rates here as well for those scenarios.

Salary Report

Finally, to calculate Salary pay, there is a dedicated Salary Report for that purpose:


You always need to set the Date Range to a single pay period, and configure which salaried Pay Class to run the report on. There are also additional configuration options in the Customize window:


There are many Columns you can choose to add to the report, which you can browse through by scrolling through the Column selection list.


Administrator Access
