By default, when job costing is enabled, workers are prompted to select a job from the list of available options upon clocking in. However, some organizations may prefer to lock a device to a specific job. This approach can be beneficial when a team or crew is assigned to the same job site for the day, allowing a supervisor to update the locked job as needed for daily operations.
Setup
Step 1: Go to the Fareclock Admin Console and go to Settings. Under ‘Settings’ find and click ‘Devices’.
Step 2: Select the device you want to edit the settings.
Step 3: After selecting the device, you will find a settings option underneath where you can locate 'Costing Overrides'.
If only Simple Costing is enabled, the option will be limited to selecting a Job, and you can lock only one job at a time. However, if Enhanced Costing is enabled, all costing options will be available for locking, including Job Phases and Cost Codes. Note that you can lock only one Job, one Job Phase, and one Cost Code per device. Additionally, if "Costing Selection is Partial" is enabled, you can lock certain options while leaving others unlocked for workers to select. For instance, you might choose to lock the Job while allowing the worker to select the Job Phase.
Update via Mobile Time Clock Application
The supervisor or administrator has the ability to update these lock settings directly within the app.
Step 1: Open the Mobile Time Clock Application, then tap the menu icon on the left side of the screen and select ‘Settings’.
Step 2: Enter your admin PIN/ email and password.
Step 3: Locate ‘Locked job’ and update the settings to align with the specific requirements of the device.
