By default, the time clock mobile app typically requires at least two screen touches (pressing two buttons) to clock IN or OUT. These interactions provide valuable context to the employee, reinforcing that they are starting or ending their shift, and ensuring acknowledgment of the action.
However, some organizations may prefer to simplify this process by reducing the number of required screen touches. Streamlining clock-ins and clock-outs can offer several advantages, such as faster punch times, fewer employee errors or confusion, and reduced exposure to shared surface contact.
Enable
Step 1: Go to the Fareclock Admin Console and go to Settings. Under ‘Settings’ find and click ‘Devices’.
Step 2: Click the ‘Defaults’ tab above.
Step 3: In the Feature Settings section, check “Streamline employee interaction with time clock.” This will enable two options:
Default to Employee Login View
- Skips the Employee Start screen.
- Goes directly to face capture, PIN, or QR code.
- Example: A worker just stands in front of the device, and it recognizes their face without touching the screen, then shows the Clock IN/OUT screen.
Auto Punch Upon Employee Login
- Automatically clocks the worker IN or OUT without pressing a button.
- Settings:
- Auto Punch Delay Seconds – Wait time before the punch (default 3 seconds). Can be set to 0 for instant punch.
- Auto Punch Requires Last Punch Not Within Minutes – Prevents quick back-to-back punches.
- Exit Delay Seconds – Time before returning to the Start screen after punching (default 20 seconds).
