A QR code is a type of two-dimensional barcode that can be used for clocking IN or OUT.
Each employee has a unique QR code that identifies them. It can be displayed on any medium, such as printed on paper, on a sticker label, or shown from the employee’s mobile phone to a device running the time clock.
The QR code serves as an alternative to entering the employee’s PIN and can be used either alongside or instead of face recognition.
Enable
Step 1: Go to the Fareclock Admin Console and go to Settings. Under ‘Settings’ find and click ‘Devices’.
Step 2: Click the ‘Defaults’ tab above.
Step 3: In the Identity Settings section, click the circle next to “Enabled” to activate this feature.
By default, workers will be prompted to enter their PIN when logging in. However, they can switch to QR Code authentication at any time by tapping the button in the upper-right corner of the screen. They only need to complete one of these two methods.
If you want workers to be prompted for a QR Code first, with PIN as the backup option, simply adjust the Authentication Order field so that QR Code is listed first. PIN must always remain available, so make sure it is set as the second option.
Setting Up QR Codes for Each Worker
Once QR codes are enabled, each worker must be assigned a unique QR code. You can set this up either through the Console or directly in the mobile app.
Console:
Step 1: Go to the Fareclock Admin Console and go to Settings. Under ‘Settings’ find and click ‘Users’.
Step 2: You will see a list of users, click on the user for whom you want to set the QR code.
Step 3: In the Basic Information section, look for the “QR code” field and click “Random QR Code” to generate a unique code.
In the QR Code field, you can either enter a unique value such as an employee ID number or select Random QR Code to generate one automatically. After choosing a QR code, you can print it by clicking the Print link.
Mobile App
You can also enroll worker QR codes in the mobile app. This option depends on the admin’s permissions, so the admin must have the ability to edit worker details in order to complete the setup.
Step 1: Access the Worker’s list.
If you are adding a new employee, tap the + button in the upper-right corner. This will open the form where you can enter their information.
Step 2: If the employee already exists and you have a pre-printed QR code, you can enroll it by selecting the employee from the list to open their employee card.
Step 3: Tap “Enroll new QR code”.
Step 4: This opens the QR Code scanner, allowing you to scan an existing QR code badge or sticker. Once scanned, the code will appear on the screen.
