This option allows the app to notify a worker when they enter a configured personal device geo fence while they are not clocked in.

Enable

Step 1: Go to the Fareclock Admin Console and go to Settings. Under ‘Settings’ find and click ‘Devices’.

Step 2: Click the ‘Defaults’ tab above.

Step 3: In the ‘Geo Settings’ section, enable trigger.

Prompt to Clock IN

When enabled, the worker receives a local notification on their device as soon as they enter one of the geo fences assigned to them. This prompt serves as a reminder to clock in and helps prevent missed time entries.

This approach ensures timely clock-in reminders while maintaining minimal background location usage and preserving worker privacy.

Auto Clock IN

Fareclock also supports an auto-punch option when a worker enters a geo fence.

Like the prompt option, Fareclock does not track the user’s location while they are not clocked in. Instead, the app sets a local alarm that activates only when the worker enters a configured geo fence. When this happens:

• The app wakes up
• The worker is either automatically clocked in (with a notification), or
• Prompted to clock in, depending on the configuration

At no point is the worker’s location sent to Fareclock servers in the background before the geo fence is entered. This ensures accurate time tracking while prioritizing privacy and minimal location usage.
