This article provides a step-by-step guide on how to manage both personal and group devices in Fareclock. Understanding how to properly configure, assign, and monitor these devices ensures accurate time tracking.
Difference Between Personal and Group Devices
Personal Devices
Personal devices are assigned to individual workers for their exclusive use. These are typically mobile phones used by remote and field workers, or supervisors. Each device is linked to a single user, and all time entries made from that device are automatically associated with that worker.
Set Up:
Step 1: Go to the Fareclock Admin Console and go to Settings. Under ‘Settings’ find and click ‘Users’.
Step 2: You will see a list of users, click on the user for whom you want to enable the personal device.
Step 3: Under ‘Personal Device Setting,’ check the box next to 'Enable Personal Device' to enable it.
Step 4: Once enabled, enter the user’s mobile phone number and/or email for installation. Select the personal device mode, set the reinstall permission, and optionally configure geo fences.
Group Devices
Group devices are shared among multiple users and are typically set up in fixed locations such as offices, warehouses, kiosks, or job sites. These devices are not tied to a specific user. Instead, they allow multiple workers to clock in and out from the same device.
You can set up a group device directly from the app without creating it first in the Admin Console. However, if you prefer to pre-configure all the settings in advance, you can create the group device in the console first. Then, during app setup, choose Reinstall and select the pre-provisioned group device to complete the setup. This method is useful when you want consistent settings applied from the start.
