All changes to any data, whether related to settings or time and attendance, are recorded in an audit log, except for regular worker-initiated punches. You can view these audit logs through two available reports:
1. Audit is the general report that allows you to filter and view all audit log records.
2. Audit Time focuses specifically on changes to punches, displayed in a format optimized for punch data.
Customize
Some of the key terms used in these reports include:
- Application - The software used to make the logged change, such as Console, Time Clock, or API.
- Actor - The entity making the change, such as a time clock device, user, or API.
- Affected Resources - The specific entity being changed, such as a punch, user, or shift class.
- Associated Resources - Entities related to the affected resource, such as the worker whose punch was edited, or a user’s department or organizational unit.
- Fields - The specific fields being edited, such as the IN/OUT time of an edited punch, or the pay class assigned to a created worker.
You can save and schedule audit log report customizations to be emailed to you on a recurring basis. For details, see our Help Article on customizing reports: Customizing Reports
Note that in various places within the Console, the video surveillance icon (usually located at the top of a form) links directly to the audit report.
Permission
All users with the Account Owner role have permission to view audit reports. To grant access to an Administrator who is not an Account Owner, enable the View audit logs permission for that user.
