Preventing Evasion of Shift and Geo Policies
Fareclock automatically blocks the following evasion techniques:
- Location permission not granted – If the app does not have access to location services.
- Fake location (Android) – On app version 2.12+, fake locations are blocked by default. For older versions, an optional setting is available.
You can also configure additional settings to block other evasion methods:
Step 1: Go to the Fareclock Admin Console and go to Settings. Under ‘Settings’ find and click ‘Devices’.
Step 2: Click the ‘Defaults’ tab above.
Geo Settings
- Block punches if location is not available – Prevents punches when geo coordinates cannot be obtained.
- Block devices with location services turned off – Locks out Android devices when location services are disabled (requires app version 2.12+). Not applicable to iOS or Airplane Mode.
- Block devices with fake location (Legacy) – For older Android app versions. Less reliable and may cause false positives.
Security Settings
- Prevent time tampering – See our help article: Can Workers Change the Device Time to Manipulate Punch Records?
- Block rooted devices – Restricts rooted Android devices.
- Block airplane mode – Locks Android devices if Airplane Mode is enabled (requires app version 2.12+).
Synchronization Settings
- Require device be online – Ensures punches are only allowed when the device is connected to the internet.
