Setup Pay Class
Next, create your Pay Class as described in this article:
How to Set Up Salary Calculation
If you only need to calculate overtime hours (and not the pay amount), you can leave the wage field blank.
For salaried employees who are also eligible for overtime, refer to our dedicated help article on that topic:
How to Set Up Salary Calculation
Setup Overtime Rules
Based on the article referenced above, you’ll need to create your overtime Pay Code(s) and adjust your Pay Class settings accordingly.
For example, if you pay overtime for hours worked beyond 40 per week at a 1.5x rate, you can create one additional Pay Code and update your Pay Class as shown below:
You’ll need to create a separate Pay Code for each unique wage multiplier. For example, if Overtime Level 2 pays at 2x, a dedicated Pay Code should be created for it. If you prefer to track and pay for different overtime types separately, even if the multiplier is the same, you can also create individual Pay Codes for each. In reports, each Pay Code will appear in its own column for easier tracking.
If you’re using weekly overtime, be sure to set the day when overtime accumulation resets. The default is Sunday, but you can change it in the Pay Class settings as shown above.
Please note that if both weekly and daily overtime are enabled:
- Daily overtime does not count toward weekly overtime.
- When both overlap, daily overtime takes precedence.
These behaviors are currently fixed. If your organization follows a different overtime policy or has specific feature requests, please contact Fareclock Support so we can consider them for future updates.
