A Throttled Request occurs when the system temporarily blocks an action to prevent repeated or excessive requests. In Fareclock, this typically happens when activation links or installation codes are requested or used multiple times within a short period.
A throttled request may occur in the following situations:
- An Admin sends multiple Activation Links to the same user in one day.
- Fareclock allows a maximum of three activation links per user per day.
- Sending the link more than once is not recommended.
- A user attempts to enter an installation code multiple times.
- Installation codes are single-use only.
- Reusing the same code will result in a throttled request.
Recommended Actions
If an activation link was already sent but not received:
- Ask the user to check their Spam or Junk folder, as the email may have been filtered.
- Verify that the email address or mobile number on file is correct.
- If the user still did not receive the message, the issue may be related to their email or mobile carrier, not the system.
If the installation code was already used:
- Go to Personal Device Settings in the Console.
- Generate a new installation code.
- Share the new code with the user and ensure it is entered only once.
